Emotion vs Logic

We humans have a general tendency to give up to our emotions. Its so easy for us to let emotions control our actions rather than facts and logic. In order to come out of this illogical behaviour, we require constant toning and stabilisation of mind.

Recent tensions due to border clashes with China has triggered an emotional response among our people to call for a boycott of Chinese goods. But it is during these times that we have to keep a cool head, think accordingly and act logically.

China's trade with India is around 100 billion dollars, out of which 75 billion dollars are imported to India and only 25 billion dollars are exported to China which signifies a huge trade deficit. India imports more from China than it exports to China. This huge trade imbalance is of course a disadvantage to India. But by boycotting the Chinese goods without first finding an alternative path either through domestic manufacturing or through import from other countries, the mere thought becomes a suicide and self defeating for India. Presently India is hugely dependent on China for electrical machinaries, nuclear reactors and organic chemicals. Apart from this India is also dependent on automobile parts in automotive industry and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient in medical industry from China. Without finding an alternative path, its just not possible for India to cope up with the demand.

China's huge manufacturing capability has created a surplus of goods in the global market due to which the prices of the goods have reduced and the poor sections of the population are able to afford many goods. This has somewhat created a level playing field for the poor in this ever increasing competitive world. By boycotting Chinese goods and not creating an alternative, there will be shortage of goods, the quality will be affected and the poor will be excluded. Finally, we have to realise that emotional actions sometimes lack proper judgement and it is always better to try to reason out the consequences and take right action.

    1. Good to ban Chinese apps. They steal private data and form a psychological profile of its users.

    2. And moreover these banned apps have addicted our youths, destroyed our culture and has exposed a lot of personal data to China. Banning these apps will not effect us except through some sanctions from China.
