Mind and its facets of awareness

Its all intriguing to talk about the mind and its complex system of thought process. The decision making happens as a result of multitude of factors. The thought process has become so complex that often we are less aware of why we did what we did.

The mind has a certain degree of uncertainty. It keeps on fluttering and fluctuating into different patterns of thought and different levels of awareness. The conscious state of mind is supposed to help us keep in the present. But since we know that there is a lot of neurological activity in the brain going on simultaneously, is it possible to have interference among the thoughts itself and lead to a complete new thought? Lets say that a person wants to concentrate on a ball as just an object without any characteristics except that it is round. Now after a few seconds or minutes depending on the concentrating ability of the individual, the person automatically becomes aware of the colour, the groves, marks, etc. and at one point of time the individual questions his initial action of gazing the ball looking for purpose and outcome of his/her action. That means the person even though he/she intended to concentrate on the ball, his/her thought process would not simply allow him/her to stay in that state.

So actually the sub-conscious mind which acts like a memory card of all past experiences somehow accesses the intellect, intervenes and develops a new thought to question ourselves about the action. Does that mean that the sub-conscious is always aware of our conscious actions? So if we can somehow tap into the subconscious mind, we can get a history of all conscious experiences right from childhood? There are so many things about mind that we don't have an answer for. If all the mind stuff activity was just a chemical process and could be explained with the release of neuro-transmitters and other chemicals, then what is the explanation for the reason behind the release of these chemicals? An in depth research in Yoga, Dhyana and meditation might give us some answers.
